The lectionary is the Bible split up into a three-year preaching series which is used in ecumenical circles. The Common Lectionary was revised to the Revised Common Lectionary to address critics and concerns of the bible stories left out. Preachers should take care that they do not rely solely on the RCL, as that allows a top-down group to define what your bottom-up church is studying. Feel free to break from it to find your own sermons not dictated from tradition.
